Some blow me off, but I've been able to find writers who understand what I'm writing. With the online world these days, I've been able to contact authors I admire and groups that share similar interests.
It's not always easy to find these folks, but they are out there.Roryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08224457631760640065noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7312027688423129946.post-79781736057801223362014-01-28T09:25:11.651-08:002014-01-28T09:25:11.651-08:00I can relate with all of this. I have a critique group (two other men and me and you know them) and they help a little. I see the story in my mind and watch the characters do and say things. I pray and ask for help. I meditate on scripture. And I just go away from it for a little while and read someone else's work. Ideas begin coming and I make notes and write again. I re-read and edit as I go along. I know many gurus tell us not to go back and edit but I have to because if I don't, I usually have to throw out entire chapters and start again. My critique partners are pretty good at giving ideas after they've read what I've given them to critique, but they're men and neither write anything like I do. I would love to find a small group (maybe 2 or 3) women who write kind of like I do so I can bounce ideas off of them. I know you will keep writing because it's in you and it has to come out. And you're good at it! Made me want to look at mine and see if there is some kind of time thing going on as there is with yours. I'm glad I've got you interested in Golden. There is much more to the story that I don't want to give away. I don't think I've given too much away right at the beginning. Essentially, the town is a character and I need to establish its parameters for the rest of the story to work.
Hang in there, though. I'm trying to get it done before the Christmas shopping season.Roryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08224457631760640065noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7312027688423129946.post-71626781685337408172013-08-26T23:25:58.251-07:002013-08-26T23:25:58.251-07:00Interesting. Since I don't know where you are going with the story, are you telling us too much in the beginning and wonder a little longer? Still--I would read this and not want to put it down until the end.
